GS1, Freshfel Europe and European Community Banana Trade Association (ECBTA) co-established the Banana Supply Chain Traceability Working Group in April 2004 with the objective to adapt the “Fresh Produce Traceability Guidelines” in view of its immediate implementation by banana suppliers to the European Union for compliance with the traceability-related provisions of the General Food Law - Council Regulation (EC) No. 178/2002.
